E-3th – Digital evolution for the Third sector

E-3th is a project promoted by a network of five partners – Enfap Marche (lead), Ancescao Aps, CSV Marche Ets, Cesvol Umbria, and Terni Digital Aps – operating across seven Italian regions. It is funded by the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale and aims to boost digital skills within Third Sector organizations.
The goal is to foster a strong digital culture in the nonprofit world, enhancing the efficiency, communication, transparency, and public reach of nonprofit entities.

The project offers a free, integrated program for nonprofit staff, collaborators, and volunteers that includes:

  • introductory sessions and orientation meetings
  • customizable training courses (36 hours total)
    • 24 hours on digital skills
    • 12 hours on soft and life skills
  • one-on-one coaching
  • access to a digital platform to support learning and communication

Training ranges from basic digital tools (Word, Excel, email, internet) to advanced skills like:

  • social media and digital communication
  • privacy and cybersecurity
  • crowdfunding and e-government systems
  • Crm and management platforms
  • AI tools, digital reporting, and social impact assessment

Soft and life skills are also a key part of the training, essential for personal growth and effective participation in the nonprofit sector.

The program runs over 15 months in seven Italian regions: Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Emilia-Romagna, Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, and Lombardia. It includes three training cycles and aims to reach 700 participants with over 2.500 hours of training delivered.

The project is carried out thanks to funding of € 640.000,00 from the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale (Fund for the Digital Republic), a public–private partnership (between the Government and the Association of Foundations and Savings Banks – Acri). The fund operates within the framework of the digitalization goals set by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the National Complementary Plan (PNC), and is financed through contributions from banking foundations, which are granted a tax credit in return. The Fund selects and supports training and digital inclusion projects aimed at various segments of the population, including NEETs, women, unemployed and inactive individuals, workers at risk of job loss due to automation, middle and high school students, social economy workers, incarcerated people, and individuals in vulnerable conditions. Its goal is to assess the impact of the supported training initiatives and scale up the most effective ones, in order to provide the Government with best practices that can inform future national policies.
